Technical SEO Services

Our technical SEO services find and fix the crawling, indexing and site health problems that stop Google from reading, trusting or showing your pages, however good the content is.

What's included

  • A full crawl of your site to find broken pages, redirect chains, orphan pages and duplicate URLs
  • Indexing checks in Google Search Console, with the reasons each excluded page is left out
  • Robots.txt review and fixes, including stray rules that block important sections
  • XML sitemap cleanup so it lists only live, indexable pages, then resubmission
  • Redirect fixes: broken redirects repaired and chains collapsed into single 301s
  • Core Web Vitals and mobile speed checks, with fixes for the biggest causes
  • HTTPS, mixed content and security header checks
  • Canonical tags and hreflang for sites with duplicate or multi-language pages
  • Schema validation, with errors fixed

Who it's for

Technical SEO is the part of search most small business owners never see, and the part that can quietly undo everything else. We work with businesses like these:

  • A site that dropped after a redesign. The new theme launched, but old URLs now return errors, or the developer left a "noindex" setting on from the staging site.
  • A site with pages Google won't index. Search Console shows dozens of pages as "Crawled, currently not indexed" or "Duplicate without user-selected canonical", and you don't know why.
  • An older WordPress site that has collected years of plugins, tag pages, attachment pages and redirects, so Google spends its time on junk instead of your service pages.
  • A bilingual business, for example a clinic with English and Spanish versions of each page, where the language versions compete with each other because hreflang is missing or wrong.
  • An online store with filtered and sorted product URLs creating thousands of near-duplicate pages.

If you're not sure whether your problems are technical, on-page or something else, start with an SEO audit, which covers all of them and ranks what to fix first. Prefer to check it yourself? See our list of free SEO tools.

How we do it

We work through a technical site crawl, page speed testing, robots.txt checks, redirect checks, sitemap checks and security and header checks, plus Google Search Console. Each check has a specific job.

  1. 1

Crawl and index review. Our technical site crawl covers every URL we can find, and we compare that list with what Google has indexed in Search Console. The gaps tell us where the problems are: important pages missing from the index, or junk pages that shouldn't be there.

    Technical site crawl
  2. 2

Robots.txt. Our robots.txt checks read your file and tests it against your key pages. We remove rules that block sections you need indexed and add rules that keep crawlers out of admin areas, internal search results and endless filter combinations.

    Robots.txt checks
  3. 3

Sitemap. Our sitemap checks show whether your XML sitemap lists pages that redirect, return errors or are marked noindex. A sitemap should be a clean list of the pages you want found, so we rebuild or reconfigure it and resubmit it.

    Sitemap checks
  4. 4

Redirects. Our redirect checks follow every redirect to its end. We repair redirects that lead to missing pages, collapse chains into a single 301, and change temporary 302 redirects to permanent ones where the move is permanent.

  5. 5

Speed and Core Web Vitals. Page speed testing measures how your templates load on mobile. We fix the technical causes that sit within SEO scope, such as render-blocking scripts or missing image dimensions. Deeper performance work is covered by our website speed optimization service.

  6. 6

HTTP headers and HTTPS. Our security and header checks confirm status codes, caching and security headers. They also find pages that load images or scripts over plain HTTP on an HTTPS site, which triggers browser warnings.

    Security and header checks
  7. 7

Canonicals, duplicates and hreflang. We set canonical tags so each piece of content has one main URL, and add or correct hreflang for sites in more than one language or region.

  8. 8

Structured data. We validate your existing schema and fix errors that stop it from being read.

  9. 9

Retest. After each batch of fixes we rerun the relevant checks, confirm nothing else changed as a side effect, and request reindexing of the affected pages in Search Console.

Why technical problems go unnoticed

Most technical SEO issues don't show up when you look at your own website. The page loads, the photos look right and the phone number works, so everything seems fine. The problems live in places visitors never see: a line in robots.txt, a tag in the page header, a redirect that bounces three times before landing, or a sitemap that still lists pages deleted two years ago.

They also tend to arrive with routine changes. A plugin update adds a second canonical tag. A developer copies a staging site to live and brings its "discourage search engines" setting with it. A new booking widget loads a large script on every page. Nobody did anything wrong on purpose, but Google now sees a different site from the one you think you have.

That is why we treat technical SEO as regular maintenance rather than a single repair. A monthly check catches changes soon after they happen, while they are still simple to reverse, instead of months later when rankings have already slipped and the cause is harder to trace.

What you receive

Each month on a plan, or once at the end of a single cleanup, you get:

  • An issue list from the technical site crawl, grouped by type and marked fixed, in progress or waiting on you
  • A change log of every fix we made, with the affected URLs
  • Search Console notes explaining indexing changes since the last report
  • A short plain-English summary of what mattered most and what comes next

Anything that needs your developer or hosting company is written up as a clear, standalone task, with the affected URLs, what is wrong, what the fix should achieve and how to confirm it worked. That way the request can be forwarded as is, without a call to explain it. When you start, you also get the full first crawl as a baseline, so later reports can show which issues are new and which were already there.

Pricing

Technical fixes every month are part of our Growth and Authority plans, because sites change and new issues appear after updates, plugin installs and new pages. If you need a single large cleanup instead, we quote it after a free review of your site.

What does a technical SEO specialist actually do?

A technical SEO specialist makes sure search engines can reach, read and index your site without running into errors. That means checking things like robots.txt, sitemaps, redirects, page speed, canonical tags and structured data, then fixing what is wrong. It is less about what your pages say and more about whether Google can process them at all.

How do I know if my site has technical SEO problems?

The clearest signs are pages missing from Google when you search for them by name, a Search Console coverage report full of excluded pages, a sudden traffic drop after a redesign or plugin update, or pages that are painfully slow on a phone. Many problems are silent, though, which is why a crawl is the first step.

Do I need a technical SEO agency or can my web developer do this?

A good developer can make most of the fixes. What a technical SEO agency adds is knowing which issues affect search and in what order to tackle them. We are happy to work alongside your developer, handing over clear tickets for the changes you would rather keep in-house.

Will you need access to my website and Search Console?

For the full service, yes. We need admin or editor access to your site, and owner or full access to Google Search Console. If you don't have Search Console set up, we set it up and verify it for you. We don't need your hosting password unless a fix is at the server level.

What is a redirect chain and why does it matter?

A redirect chain is when one URL redirects to a second, which redirects to a third, and so on. They build up over years of redesigns and page renames. Each hop slows the page down and makes it harder for Google to pass value from old links to the final page, so we collapse chains into one direct redirect.

Can technical fixes break my site?

Any change carries some risk, which is why we test on a staging copy where one exists, make changes in small batches and recheck after each one. Anything that touches site-wide settings, like robots.txt or redirects, is confirmed with you before it goes live.

Does my site's platform matter for technical SEO?

It changes what can be fixed and how. WordPress gives us access to almost everything, Shopify fixes some things like URL patterns for you, and hosted builders such as Wix or Squarespace limit what can be edited. We work within each platform and tell you plainly when a limitation can't be worked around.
