Off-Page SEO Services
Our off-page SEO services build the signals that live outside your website, relevant links, consistent citations and genuine mentions, so search engines have more reasons to trust your business.
What's included
- A review of your current backlink profile, including links that look spammy or broken
- A gap list of sites that link to your competitors but not to you
- Business directory listings on real, trusted sites, with a report of every listing
- Business citations with your name, phone and website matched exactly
- Outreach to local partners, suppliers, associations and community groups you already work with
- Unlinked brand mention checks, with requests to turn those mentions into links
- Digital PR ideas based on things your business actually does, such as sponsorships, events or expert comment
- A link log recording every link placed or earned, with its URL and status
Who it's for
Off-page SEO matters most when your pages are in good shape but still sit behind competitors who have been around longer or have more of the web pointing at them. We typically work with:
- Local service businesses such as landscapers, electricians and cleaning companies, whose competitors show up in every local directory while they appear in only a few.
- Newer businesses with a well-built site and almost no links, where Google simply has little outside evidence that the business exists.
- Businesses with real-world relationships that never show up online. A roofer who sponsors a youth baseball team, a caterer who works every chamber event, or a contractor listed as a preferred installer by a manufacturer usually has links waiting to be claimed.
- Owners worried about past SEO work. If a previous provider built links you can't explain, we start by sorting what is helping from what is noise.
If your site still has thin pages or missing titles, fix those first with on-page SEO. Links pointing at a clear, useful page do more than links pointing at a vague one.
How we do it
- 1
1. Audit what you already have
We start with a backlink analysis of your site. It shows which sites link to you, which pages they point at, the anchor text they use, and which links have been lost or broken. This tells us whether you have a healthy base to build on, a lot of noise, or almost nothing at all. It also shows links pointing at old URLs that now return errors, which are often the quickest wins: a redirect recovers them.

2. Find the gaps
Next we run your domain against three to five competitors in a competitor gap analysis. It lists websites that link to two or more of your competitors but not to you. For a small business, that list is usually full of practical targets: local directories, industry associations, supplier "where to buy" pages, event listings and local news sites. Each one is sorted by relevance, not just by how strong the site looks.

3. Fix your citations and profiles
Consistent business listings matter for local search. We check that your name, phone number and website match exactly across the major directories, correct the ones that don't, and create profiles on relevant platforms where you are missing. For a deeper citation project, see our local citation building service.
- 4
4. Earn links from relationships you already have
We ask you a short set of questions: who you buy from, who you partner with, which associations you belong to, what you sponsor or donate to. Then we contact those organizations with a specific request, such as adding you to a dealer list or a sponsor page. These links tend to be highly relevant because they reflect real connections.
- 5
5. Turn mentions into links
Sometimes a local blog or news site mentions your business by name without linking. We find those mentions and send a polite request to add the link.
- 6
6. Pitch digital PR where there is a real story
If your business does something newsworthy, like a community project, a seasonal safety tip from your team, or an opening in a new area, we help shape it into a pitch for local media or trade publications. We only suggest angles that are true and relevant.

7. Recheck
When the work is complete we run the backlink analysis again, confirm which links are live and indexed, and note any that are still pending approval.

What we won't do
Off-page SEO has a long history of shortcuts, and many small business owners have been burned by them. So it is worth being plain about the line we draw.
We don't buy links, sell link packages from networks of made-up blogs, or place your site on link farms. We don't spin articles into hundreds of near-copies or drop your link into forum signatures and blog comments. We don't use exact-match anchor text on every link, which looks unnatural and invites trouble.
Instead, every source has to pass a simple test: would a real customer, partner or local resident reasonably find your business through this page? A listing with your trade association passes. A page on a foreign site full of unrelated links does not.
This approach is slower than the shortcuts. It is also the approach that doesn't leave you with a cleanup job when search engines catch up with a scheme, and it builds links that keep working for years.
What you receive
At the end of the project you get:
- A link log listing every link and citation, the site it is on, the page it points to and whether it is live
- Your gap list from the competitor gap analysis, so you can see which opportunities remain
- A citation summary showing which listings were created or corrected
- A short profile review noting any links that look risky and what, if anything, we recommend doing about them
- Outreach notes recording who we contacted and what they said, so nothing is lost if a partner replies later
If you move to one of our monthly SEO services plans, the log continues each month alongside new editorial links.

What counts as off-page SEO?
Off-page SEO is anything outside your own website that affects how search engines see it. The biggest part is backlinks from other sites, but it also includes business citations, brand mentions, reviews on third-party platforms and coverage in local media. Your website content and code are on-page and technical work, which we handle separately.
Do you buy backlinks?
No. We don't buy links, rent space on private blog networks or use link farms. Those shortcuts can get a site penalized, and the cleanup costs more than the links were worth. Every link we place or earn is on a real site that a person could reasonably find useful.
How is this different from your link building service?
Off-page SEO is the wider job: links, citations, brand mentions, profile cleanup and PR ideas. Our link building services focus only on earning editorial links through outreach and content, usually over several months. Many small businesses start here and move to dedicated link building once the basics are in place.
Are directory links still worth anything?
Relevant ones are. A listing on a well-known business directory, your trade association or your city's chamber of commerce helps confirm that your business is real and where it operates. Mass submissions to hundreds of low-quality directories are not worth doing, and we don't do them.
Can off-page SEO hurt my site?
Bad off-page SEO can. Sudden bursts of links from unrelated or spammy sites can look manipulative. That is why we check your existing profile first, choose sources that fit your industry and location, and build links at a steady, natural pace.
What if I already have toxic links?
Most sites collect some junk links over time, and Google generally ignores them. If we find a pattern that looks like a past paid link scheme, we flag it, explain the options and help prepare a disavow file if one is truly warranted. We don't disavow links by default.
Do reviews count as off-page SEO?
Reviews on Google and other platforms are part of how search engines and customers judge a local business, so they sit close to off-page work. This service focuses on links, citations and mentions. If reviews are your weak spot, our review management services handle requesting, monitoring and replying to them.
