How Our SEO Process Works
Our SEO work follows the same order every time: understand your business, fix what's broken, build your local presence, then add content and links. Here is what happens at each step, what you get, and what we need from you.
- 1
Step 1: A free review of your website
Everything starts with a look at where you stand today. You share your website through the chat, along with what your business does and the area you serve. A person on our team reviews your site's technical health, your main pages, your Google Business Profile and local listings, the websites that link to you, and how your business shows up in AI search tools like ChatGPT.
What you get: a reply within one business day, in plain English, covering what we found, which problems matter most and what we'd do about them. If one of our packages or plans fits, we say which one and why. If your project needs a custom quote, you get that instead.
What we need from you: your website address, a short description of your business, where your customers are, and how to reach you. No logins yet. You can start with a free SEO audit.

Step 2: Keyword research
Before we change a single page, we find out how your customers actually search. A homeowner with a leak might type "emergency plumber near me", "burst pipe repair" or "plumber open now", and each of those says something different about what they need. We use professional keyword research tools to see which searches have real demand in your area, which ones competitors already own, and which ones you have a fair chance at.
What you get: a list of target keywords grouped by service and page, with a note on why each was chosen. The number of keywords depends on your package or plan.
What we need from you: the services you most want to sell, any you'd rather not promote, and the towns or neighborhoods you cover. You know your customers better than any tool does, so this conversation matters.

Step 3: On-page and technical fixes
Next we make your site easier for search engines to read and for visitors to use. On the page level, that means clear titles and headings, meta descriptions that earn the click, service pages that describe what you do in the words people search for, image optimization and sensible internal links. On the technical side, we look at speed, mobile layout, broken links, redirects, your sitemap and structured data (schema) that helps search engines understand your business. Our on-page SEO and technical SEO pages go into more detail.
What you get: a record of every page we changed and what we changed on it, so nothing happens to your site that you can't see.
What we need from you: access to your website, usually as a user account on your content management system, such as WordPress or Shopify. We'll tell you exactly what level of access is needed. If you have a web developer, we can work with them instead.

Step 4: Local listings and your Google Business Profile
For businesses that serve a local area, this is often where the biggest gains are. We fill in and tidy your Google Business Profile: categories, services, hours, photos and description. Then we check your business name, address and phone number across the major directories and fix the ones that are wrong or missing. Consistent listings help Google trust that your business is real and where you say it is. See Google Business Profile optimization and local citation building for the details.
What you get: a list of the listings we created or corrected, and a before-and-after view of your profile.
What we need from you: manager access to your Google Business Profile (we'll send simple instructions), and confirmation of your official business name, phone number and hours. If you run a service-area business and don't want your address shown, tell us and we'll set the profile up that way.

Step 5: Content and backlinks
With the foundations in place, we work on the two things that build authority over time. Content means new service pages, location pages and blog posts written around the searches your customers make, not filler. Backlinks are links from other websites to yours. In one-time packages these are business directory listings, and Premium adds 2 guest articles on relevant websites. On monthly plans we add editorial links: real articles on relevant websites, earned through outreach. We never buy links from link farms or private blog networks.
What you get: the published pages and posts, and a list of every backlink we built with where it lives.
What we need from you: a quick review of drafts before they go live, and anything that makes your content more yours, such as photos of your work, answers to common customer questions, or details about how you do things.
- 6
Step 6: Reporting
You'll always know what we did and what changed. Monthly plan clients get a monthly report covering the work completed, keyword positions, Google Maps visibility for tracked keywords and what's planned next. One-time package clients get a completion report listing everything delivered. We use professional SEO software to track rankings and site health, so the numbers come from real data.
What you get: a plain-English report you can read in a few minutes, with an explanation of anything that went up or down. On higher plans, a call to walk through it.
What we need from you: tell us when something changes in your business, like a new service, a new location or new hours, so the work keeps up.
A note on timing
We don't promise how long any of this will take to show in the rankings, because it depends on your site, your market and your competitors, and search engines make the final call. What we do promise is to tell you what we think is realistic after the review, and to show our work at every step. If you'd like to compare options, see the pricing page.
